A new cover for The Ghost Downstairs!
Also help me choose a title, if you like romantic fantasy.
A quick book-related update today.
First, especially relevant to those of you who read bits of my novel The Ghost Downstairs when I posted some of it here last year: it is soon to be (re-)released in ebook and audiobook format by Central Avenue Publishing, and here is its gorgeous new cover!
I am delighted with it! Those bricks are so “old Seattle mansion.”
Meanwhile, I’m getting my most recently completed novel ready for my publisher (a process that, at this stage, is mainly involving me going through the document and cutting unnecessary words). We are faced with the question of what its title should be. Ergo, I shall use Substack’s poll feature to get some feedback.
Note: please vote ONLY if you are someone who would read romantic fantasy in the first place—or if you do multi-genre marketing as your job. It doesn’t really help to get the opinion of someone who, say, only reads biographies or military thrillers. We seek to appeal to our target demographic here. :)
Things about the book, to help you decide:
It’s set in Eidolonia, a fictional country with fae and witches (humans who can do magic).
The era is our modern day, so there are also text messages and social media platforms and such.
It’s about two people who fall in love—one a “he” and the other a “they”—in the setting of a traveling theatre company.
It involves dangerous spells and/or deals with the fae, and the ensuing heartbreak from such events, but also has a lot of humor and coziness.
Feel free to provide an impassioned argument for either title in the comments. Thank you!
Voted for "The Quicksand Theatre Company" with my bookseller hat on! If I were getting two romantic fantasies into the store, one with that title and one with "Under Spells And Sequins," I'd be more inclined to pick up the former first to see what it was all about. I feel like it's a little more specific, gives you an idea of what to expect :)
anything theatre is 9000x more likely to grab my interest
