[Transcript if you don’t want to watch:]
The first time Trump was elected, I was in the middle of deciding what to write next. I looked at the world around me, couldn’t face any of these countries, and decided it was time to invent that fictional country I’d always thought about creating.
Fast forward eight years. I now have two books available set in that country, Eidolonia, and a third and probably a fourth on the way. It’s still our modern world, but I’ve added a big island in the Pacific, hidden by magic from the rest of us.
They aren’t a perfect country, but they don’t have any bigotry about gender or sexuality, they have fae neighbors and magical powers, their festivals and holidays are way cooler than ours, and when they do have corrupt human leaders—which does happen at times—they are eventually brought to justice and made to answer for their crimes.
So. Come visit, if you’ve had enough of the world’s real countries. What I’ve found is worldbuilding witchery saves your sanity.
